The Lappeenranta Internet of Energy in Europe

Is an affordable 100% renewable global electricity grid possible and desirable? It’s a rather important question.
A couple of weeks ago, Roger Andrews had a post introducing the Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) Internet of Energy (IOE) model that claimed the whole World could be run on renewable energy alone by 2030 for a cost of €55 to €70 MWh. This sounded too good to be true and Roger concluded that it was.
