Vlad will be delivering what Pepe calls “a showstopper at the UN” on Monday. While he most assuredly will address many issues, the stand-alone topic will be how Putin,
…will frame the absolute defeat of ISIS/ISIL/Daesh as the key geopolitical issue of these times; he will commit Russia to it; and he will propose for the “West” to join in.
Why is that? Because Vlad is a Master at chess and made a strategic move regarding Syria. Not only by delivering weapons such as Sukhois and surface-to-air missiles to safeguard Latakia air base, and a new batch that “includes 4 Su-30SM multirole combat jets; 12 Su-25 ground attack jets; 12 Su-24M attack fighters; and six possible Ka-52 attack helicopters; but by also giving the heads-up that it’s not unreasonable to expect the Ruskie Air Force to well…actually intervene. Washington’s unofficial response?…Oh shit.
The administration’s official response for now is in the “Let’s see how much of an impression Vlad’s speech has made across the world” option, “and how the frantic diplomacy related to the Syrian theatre of war will fare.“
It’s short-sighted to look at Russia’s move as merely flexing their muscle. No, no, no…We can’t forget that Putin’s leadership skills are absolutely alien to the West’s mentally ill approach. Vlad is going to on some level help the West save face…by offering an invitation for them to sit their asses down and talk/chat/discuss everything including the kitchen sink, i.e. from southwest Asia to the Ukraine; and more importantly, an offer for the US to truly be part of the solution vs continuing to be part of the problem. It would be naïve to misconstrue an offer of dialogue as desperate on Putin’s end. He controls the chessboard, and this latest move “carries the potential to smash to pieces the Obama administration’s post-Maidan “strategy” of isolating Russia. Thus the predictable fear, loathing and paranoia permeating the Beltway.”
Other signals that Washington is beginning to realize they’re being cornered:
